Did you know your lawn needs about an inch of water per week to stay healthy? While most of us are sure to water our house plants, our lawns don’t always receive the same attention. While we can’t predict how much rain we will get this summer, we do know that drought and water bans are a common occurrence during the summer months.
With SeaScape’s Water Savers program, you can proactively protect your lawn from drought stress. This specialized treatment–applied in conjunction with your second, third, and fourth lawn care applications– helps your lawn retain moisture and use water more efficiently, allowing you to reduce water usage by up to 33% each year. The result? A greener lawn with less water
There are a few things you need to remember when it comes to water and your lawn:
- Your lawn needs about 1 inch of water per week
- If you have automatic sprinklers, you should turn them on in mid-to-late April
- Aim to water every other day for about 30-40 minutes per zone
- Water more in sunny areas, less in shady spots
- If you are watering manually, set your sprinkler up to water for about 40 minutes per section every third day
- Don’t skip lawn care applications. Some insect damage mimics drought stress. Your lawn tech will be checking the lawn for insects, treating weeds, and maybe applying your preventive grub control. Our applications will also help your stressed lawn recover faster in the case of drought.
- Keep mowing high
- Longer grass blades = longer roots
- Longer roots can access water more easily
- Also, higher grass shades your soil better, leading to fewer weeds and crabgrass.
