James Wilkinson, who earned a doctorate in horticulture from Michigan State University and is the president of SeaScape, discusses the seasonal challenges of the green-collar industry in Rhode Island and how a horticulture apprenticeship program might be able to keep more people employed for longer. SeaScape is one of 20 companies taking part in Rhode Island Nursery and Landscape Association’s apprenticeship program, which is designed to provide workers with valuable skills and knowledge pertinent to the horticulture industry.
