Most lawns should now be looking lush, green, and healthy. You may notice a few weeds starting to appear — don’t worry, these will be treated during your next scheduled application. If weeds are still visible two weeks after treatment, give us a call. If you’re on a full program, we’ll re-treat them at no extra cost.

While weeds are easy to spot, there could be other issues affecting your lawn. Here are two of the most common concerns we hear about this time of year.

Red Thread

Humid weather can bring on a few lawn issues, and one of the most common is red thread. This cosmetic disease gives grass blades a reddish or brownish tint at the tips. While it may look concerning, red thread doesn’t cause permanent damage. In more severe cases, we can apply additional fertilizer to help your lawn bounce back more quickly.

Seedheads

You may also see seedheads emerging this time of year. These can make your lawn appear whitish or even give it a wheat-like or reddish top, especially if ryegrass is present. Don’t worry — these aren’t weeds. Seedheads are a natural part of your grass’s growth cycle. After your next mowing, they’ll typically disappear and may not return again this season.
